Easy Elegance
Mealtimes often provide an opportunity for family members to reconnect in the ‘heart of the home,’ but with no eat-in kitchen this small adjoining dining room has to serve double-duty as a regular eating place and space to celebrate holidays and other special occasions. To strike the right balance between comfort and refined, an extendable table with distressed top and handcrafted chairs were paired with a sleek, high-gloss white credenza and elegant ikat damask pattern drapes in warm grey and maize set against a cream background. The pendant lantern with chain hangar evokes a farmhouse style, while its geometric open cage design and polished chrome finish adds a modern twist. Four gold-rimmed ‘bird’ plates were mounted in customized shadow boxes and hung on the main wall to elevate the space and impart a gallery feel. Plagued by small square footage, a mirror was installed to make the room feel more spacious and floating shelves added for extra storage, which also deliver decorative display.
